Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco - Soraypampa (12 KM - 7.45 miles ~ 5 hours)

We begin the day with the hotel pick-up at 04:20 AM. Then, we'll head in our comfortable transportation towards Mollepata (9,514 feet .a.s.l.), passing through the towns of Izcuchaca and Limatambo, arriving around 7:30 AM. There, we'll enjoy breakfast and leave 5 kg for the horses. We'll be transferred to Challacancha in an hour (11,089 feet a.s.l). From this point, we'll start the approximately 3-hour hike to Soraypampa (12,795 feet a.s.l), where we'll arrive around 1:30 PM.

After our first lunch, we'll explore the beautiful Humantay Lagoon, ascending for 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach the stunning Humantay Lagoon (13,845 feet a.s.l), where we'll enjoy the view of the Apu Humantay snow-capped peak. Later, we'll descend to our campsite in Soraypampa for tea around 6:00 PM, followed by a delicious dinner prepared by our chef.

Day 2: Soraypampa - Salkantay - Colpapampa (22 KM ~ 10 hours)

At 5:00 AM, we'll enjoy a nutritious breakfast before starting our hike from Soraypampa to the highest point, Salkantay Pass (15,256 feet a.s.l), in 3 hours. From there, we'll appreciate the imposing snow-capped peaks of Salkantay, Humantay, Tucarhuay, and Pumasillo. Continuing the descent through Salkantaypampa and Soyrococha, we'll reach Huayracmachay (12,467 feet a.s.l) in 3 hours, where we'll have lunch before descending to Colpapampa (9,514 feet a.s.l) in another 3 hours, our second campsite.

Day 3: Colpapampa - Playa Sahuayaco (12 KM ~ 5 hours)

Breakfast will be at 06:00 AM, followed by a 5.5-hour hike through the eyebrow of the jungle, with ascents and descents. Along the way, we'll enjoy coffee plantations, orchids, begonias, bromeliads, and medicinal plants. Upon reaching Playa Sahuayaco, our lunch spot, we'll enjoy a buffet and rest in this warm natural environment. At 06:00 PM, we'll have our tea and dinner.

Day 4: Playa Sahuayaco - Lucmabamba - Hidroeléctrica - Machu Picchu Town (20 KM ~ 9 hours)

We'll have breakfast in a tropical area and continue towards Lucmabamba and Llactapata for 3 hours until reaching the archaeological site. If the day is clear, part of Machu Picchu will be visible in the distance. We'll descend to Hidroeléctrica in 2 hours for lunch at a restaurant. Then, we'll walk through the tropical area to the town of Aguas Calientes for 3 hours, where we'll settle into the hotel and await dinner at a restaurant.

Day 5: Machu Picchu Town - Machu Picchu Sanctuary - Cusco

We'll rise early to visit Machu Picchu with our guide, exploring temples, terraces, palaces, and platforms. Afterwards, we'll return to the town of Aguas Calientes and take the train at 14:55 or 18:20 hrs.

NOTE: In the event you have a ticket for Machu Picchu or Huayna Picchu Mountain, you would be entering during the first time slot from 6:00 - 8:00 AM. Please be aware that there won't be a guided tour of Machu Picchu as there won't be enough time for the guided visit, and you will proceed directly to the mentioned mountains.

Cancellation

  • Once the reservation and purchase of the Machu Picchu entrance ticket are completed, it is non-cancelable and non-refundable.
  • You can cancel the tour up to 15 days before the start date, but please note that the refund will be 50% less the cost of the Machu Picchu entrance ticket.
